You are searching a database of restaurant reviews from The
Providence Journal newspaper and Rhode Island Monthly magazine
from 1997 to now, focusing on restaurants throughout Rhode Island
and in nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut.
- You may search by name by either typing in the
full or the first letter or letters, type of cuisine, location
or price.
- You may search by town, by choosing a town from
those listed in the Location drop-down window. Towns are
listed under headings for Rhode Island, Massachusetts and
Connecticut. The headings do not function as a search by
state.
- You may also search on any combination of the
four in order to narrow your results. For example, you may
choose to search on Italian as the cuisine and $$$ as the
price range. Only reviews that match both criteria will
be returned.
- Not sure of the restaurant's name or spelling,
but do know it's first letter? Type it in to get a list
of all eateries beginning with that letter.
- To broaden your search, you can choose "Any" for
one or more of the search choices. You may also try leaving
the name field blank.
- Only cuisines described in reviews, and only
towns and cities where restaurants that have been reviewed
are located are included in search options.
- After you submit a request, your search will prompt a
results page that offers capsule reviews. Where available,
links are provided to full reviews from the Journal, Rhode
Island Monthly or both.
- In some cases, only capsule reviews are available.
These shorter descriptions are up to date as of May 1999.
As full restaurant reviews are written, they will be added
to the database and attached to the capsules.
- New Journal reviews will be added each week, as
they are published in the newspaper. Rhode Island Monthly
reviews will be added each month, after the magazine
leaves the newsstands. Capsule reviews may be added
at any time.
- To help us keep the database up to date, please
