Craft Interview
• Describe your style simply.
I am currently doing Glass blowing as a profession, but I also like photography and illustration as mediums.
• What do you buy at the art supply store?
I usually only buy illustration supplies through art supply stores.
• What technical problems intrigue you?
Figuring out new ways to create transcendental devices in glass.
• Among your own work, what is your favorite piece? Where is it now?
an illustration that took 560 hours to complete. It's in my portfolio... not for sale.
• What impressions do you want others to take from your work?
My hope is that my photography would be a flash of imagery that might inspire thought based on core emotional reaction. My illustrations are meant to be a journey. I produce glass vehicles for the mind and spirit.
• Where/how can others view and purchase your work?
At the moment I only have images here but anyone can get more images or purchase some work through my e-mail address.
• What are the sources of courage?
The major source of my courage is rooted in a solid foundation of alchemical religious experience. I do not make art for money. Right now I am making good money with glass and this alows me the freedom of being self employed. Ultimately though I make art because I'm a human being and it is in my nature. If I could not support myself with art I would get another job. I WOULD NOT TAKE MONEY FROM A GOVT. PROGRAM LIKE THE N.E.A.. If you cannot make art support you do it because you have to and get a job.
• Anything else you want to say? Say it here...
All human beings are artists. We are artists conserving and creating novelty. We have a responsibility to this gift to create. Everything else we do is body maintenance.
